As today’s photo is of fireworks, how about a reminder that you can get a free ebook about taking fireworks photos. All you need to do is just subscribe to my newsletter. You can do it either at the bottom of this blog, or by going here.

Fireworks at the bridge

To take a break from all the Astana photos (still have a lot of them :)), how about another shot from the Danube in Flames even from earlier this year. I do like fireworks photos, so this will also add a new one of those to the blog :)

This is a single exposure, edited in Lightroom and Photoshop.

Little trip

I’m off to Budapest until the end of the week. Since I’m no taking my Surface with me, I will not be updating my blog while there. So if I don’t collapse somewhere from the heat (should be quite hot) I should resume with updates on Monday.

Flames over Danube

Here is one more photo from the Danube in Flames even about a month ago in Vilshofen in Germany. I could not really get many different compositions, as there were so many people around me, I could not even move. At first I even though I would get no photos, as there was no spot to set up the tripod. But I asked nicely, and the people there made space for me. How nice of them, no?

Building a 3D printer

If you noticed an update to the “quick updates” section right under the latest blog update, you may have seen that my 3D printer arrived today. And I just spend the last 4 hours putting it together and another 2 to print something. The good news? It works fine. The bad news? Will take a bit of time to master the settings to get the best results. But it always like that when one tries something new :)

Danube in Flames

I think I mentioned I was in Germany last weekend. It was in Vilshofen to be exact and it was because of an event called Danube in Flames. This is sort of a local festival there, which end with a huge fire and firework show from the bridge in the middle. And here you have one of the photos I took there.

This is a single exposure, edited in Lightroom and Photoshop. You may notice a not exactly standard aspect ratio of this photo. The reason for that is, that I had to shoot up, as I was standing quite close. And with that, I got a very noticeable perspective distortion. And when you remove that, the photo stretches to a lot higher one. But I think it looks really nice like this.

No more Facebook

Those that follow me on Facebook maybe noticed that I have not posted there in a long while. And actually, I don’t plan to anymore. Maybe I set it up to automatically update when the blog updates, but that’s about it. I even stopped going to Facebook website and blocked most notifications from the app. Over the last few years Facebook just became more anoying than useful, and I just had enough.

For now, I only use two social networks. Twitter and Instagram. Those are updated regularly, and there where you can find me. And of course here, on the blog :)

Fireworks at the AmaLea christening

I visited Vilshofen in Germany this weekend, where I was taking photos at the christening of the new AmaWaterways ship, the AmaLea. This is another wonderful river cruise ship, and if you ever can, you should experience river cruising in a ship like this.

And as by each christening, there were fireworks at the end, and today I will share with you a photo taken during these fireworks. This is a single exposure, edited in Lightroom and Photoshop.

Buying the same bag again

I have been using the ThinkTank Sling-O-Matic 30 bag for around 5 years now and I really like it. But over time I thought about switching from this sling bag to a normal backpack. This was mostly due to the amount of gear I use, and the weight it has. So almost every year, I bought a new backpack a nd tried to use it. But every time I ended back by the ThinkTank in a week or two.

So in the end, I just gave up, and just ordered the same bag again. Not that the one I have is no longer usable. But from all the travel its already beaten up a bit. Now I’m wondering, if I don’t buy one more, just to have a backup, as they don’t make them anymore. Will see :)

At the Christmas market in Cologne

The weather last week was quite horrible for me. So much rain everywhere. But I did have a bit of luck in Cologne, where for about one hour I was not bombarded by raindrops. So I went to the Christmas Marked there, and while it was very busy, I managed to find a small spot for me to set up a tripod and take few photos. And here is one of them. Taken right next to the cathedral, under the big Christmas tree.

This is a two shot panorama, edited only in Lightroom. I’m not really 100% sure about the look of this one. The reason is, I edited it on the Surface Pro. And over time I noticed, I have the same problem on Surface that I have on mobile screens. The resolution and quality of the screen is just so high, that everything looks too good on it. If I then put it on a lower resolution screen, it no longer does, and I see problems I could not see on here. So I hope that is not the case with this one :)
