Classic shot in the Segovia Cathedral

This really is a classic composition for a place like this :). I just could resist to also have a photo like this. I took this shot in the cloister of the Segovia Cathedral in Segovia. I wanted to try few different composition, but few seconds after I took this shot, I was asked to stop using my tripod, and the security guard started walking around, interfering with my shots. Probably he thought I will destroy the stone floor tiles with the rubber feet of my tripod :) But either way, I’m happy with this shot.

Iglesia de Los Jesuitas

White objects (walls, cars, anything else) are not the best subject for HDR. You have to be very careful, not to make the white turn into grey in your final result. This very beautiful church in Toledo, the Iglesia de Los Jesuitas is one of the very bright churches, with all the walls very white. This is why I used the HDR postprocess only on small parts of the photo, everything that was not white. Together with a lot of brightening, I think it worked really well.

Also this was only the second church I visited in Spain (first one being the Almudena Cathedral) where I was allowed to use a tripod. Don’t really understand why they allow you to take photos, but they are against the use of tripods :)

Pinterest

I heard a lot of stuff about Pinterest lately, so I decided to join it. I just started to add stuff to my page http://pinterest.com/hdrshooter/ but I quite like how it’s done. Feel free to follow me there and if anybody wants to try it out and needs an invite, just let me know :)

Sunset by the Almudena Cathedral

Would be nice to take this photo without cars, but that was really not possible. So instead I went for light trails. I took the same shot few times, until I had a photo, where none of the cars was visible. I also played a lot with the colors on this one, but in the end I chosen a little warmer look. I really like it :)

Aqueduct of Segovia

I had no luck for a nice light in Segovia. The day was quite cold and cloudy. Only later the sky cleared a little, but still, the light was horrible. But I tried my best. I actually edited this photo 2 times, as I was so dissatisfied with the first result, that I deleted it and started once more :)

And have a nice Valentines day everyone :)

Bigger photos

So with the move from a 12 megapixel camera to a 21 megapixel camera, all photos are bigger and more detailed. So I decided to allow bigger resolution images on my portfolio page www.hdrshooter.net from now on. HDR photos really look better large :)

Train Station or Garden

Or both :) This is how a train station should look like :) When you are waiting, you take a walk in the garden. This is the Interior plaza in the old Atocha station in Madrid. Really a stunning place. I took this shot only handheld, but I placed the camera on the railing and held it down. It worked quite well :)
