When one get up very high, it’s really great to start by taking very wide views. But once those are done, I like to get out my 70-200 lens and start zooming on parts of the scenery. Same for this one, where I zoomed in onto this little square with this lovely fountain in the middle. The whole composition is around the fountain, that’s why I also positioned it in the middle of the photo.

Glowing fountain

I took mostly evening and night time photos in Dubai. Mostly because the sun during the day is quite strong there, really not fit for any photography (and I also don’t like to run around a city in direct sunlight and high temperatures). But as I was staying right in the Dubai Marina, i went out few time to get few photos. This one was taken from one of the bridges there, right after lunch.

This is a panorama from two tiles, taken with a 9 stop ND filter. Each tile from 5 exposures, combined in Oloneo Photoengine.
Sunny day in the Marina

A very classic view of Dubai, but you know me, if there is a bridge, I can’t skip it :) Of course I had to go under it to get few photos. Probably should have gone with a longer exposure, just to make the water more blurred. Actually the bottom part in this image is a single exposure, while the top one is a HDR. I had to do this because there was so much movement in the water, which created this crazy wavy light reflection in it.

Recently I also started posting on Instagram. It’s mostly random shots from my camera, but I just started also posting my regular photos. You can find me under instagram.com/miroslavpetrasko. And just few days ago, the @Dubai account shared one of my photos there, which got over 31000 likes. Always great to see a big response to one of my photos :)

Yachts in the marina

I don’t want to know how much a yacht like this costs, but would love to visit one one day :) This very beautiful big yacht was visible from the top of the Cayan tower, and despite a very heavy wind on that side of the tower, I decided to try to zoom in and get a photo of it. And surprisingly, it came out quite nice.

Yachts in the marina

You would not think that this photo was taken at 2 am :) Dubai, as every big city, creates so much light pollution, that you can shoot at any time of the night, and still have enough light. Even the exposure times were still manageable. I have to say, hawing the palms in Dubai is so great for photographers. It gives so many nice spots to be able to shoot the citiscapes of Dubai, which would not exist without them.

This is a HDR created from 4 exposures in Oloneo Photoengine and finished in Photoshop.
