The 2012 Photoblog Award

I can’t believe my blog was selected as one of the 20 best photoblogs of 2012 by Photoblog Awards. It came as a really big surprise for me. It’s a great end to the last year and great start to a new one. The compelte list can be found on the Photoblog Awards page.

Small nativity scene

I visited Vienna for few hours yesterday, and of course I also took few photos :) This is a small nativity scene in the St. Stephens Cathedral in Vienna. There were two of these, one of each side of the cathedral. This HDR is only from a single RAW file, as no tripods allowed and for this I held the camera down on a railing. Looks quite good for a 2s exposure :)

Colorful scene in bad weather

Such a colorful scene and such a bad weather. Even with all that color, it loos a little grey. I know that I could push few slider and make the whole photo more saturated, but I also know that it will no longer feel the same way as the scene I want to recreate. And that’s why it is how it is :)

The beauty of Austria

I can’t even imagine how would this look during a nice sunset… really a place I have to revisit. Even during such a cloudy day, and even when it was raining, the view was stunning.

I was thinking of adding more contrast and color to this photo, but then decided against it. Like it is, it gives me the same feeling as what I have seen that day. A cloudy, rainy day is not defined by saturated colors :)

Cloudy sky in Durnstein

One of the places I will definitively need to revisit. Just luck that Durnstein in Austria is not so far away from Bratislava. As you can see from this and other photos I already posted from there, during my last visit, the weather was not the best. Actually when I took this, it was already raining. Luckily the canon 24-70 lens has a huge lens hood, which is great for such situations :)

Really cloudy morning

I spend the last 3 hours editing photos. And I hate everything I created, I just deleted everything. Just one of those days. Even my computer refuses to work properly, everything is so slow. Probably everyone has days like this sometime.

So here is a photo I edited few days ago, taking on a really cloudy morning in the lovely city of Durnstein. It actually started raining few minutes after I took this.
