So I’m back home from Prague and Dresden. Not for long this time, as in few days I’m off to Budapest. But until then, here is the first photo from Dresden I edited. I was only one day in Dresden, so I tried to make the most of it. To bad that the clouds you can see in this photo had a different opinion and it started raining right when they got above me. But still I got few nice photos during the blue hour from here and you will see them sometime in the next days and weeks (together with some new Prague photos :))

This is a manual blend from 5 shots. Taken by the Elbe river in Dresden. In the shot the Hofkirche and Augustusbrucke.

Midday shooting

It’s really not the best time to shoot, when the sun is high up and there are no clouds in the sky. But if that is the only time you are in a particular city, one tries to get the best shot possible.

Same when I was in Regensburg, Germany. I only had around 2-3 hours and it was just around 3-4pm. So really not the best time. Would loved to be there for sunset, but no such luck that time. If I did the same shot today, I would probably try to use the ND400 to blur the water completely and so create a nice reflection. Maybe next time :)

This photo is a manual blend of 6 shots. Edited only in Photoshop. I try to blend the images so, where the darkest parts are still the darkest, and the lightest are still the lightest in the final result. I think it gives the final photo a more natural look.

St. Stephan’s Cathedral in Passau

This is one of the most beautiful Cathedrals I have ever been in. If I was standing a little further back, the view would be even more stunning. Too bad I managed only to take two photos, before I was asked not to use a tripod. Still, I’m happy I got at least a view like this :)

Passau

Usually when the weather is like this (cloudy, not much color, boring sunset) I wait for blue hour, as the lights of the city add enough color to the photo. But as my ship was leaving right around that time, and I still had to walk back to the city, down a wet hill, with no lights along the path, I decided not to push my luck. So in the end, the view was nice, the colors were a little boring :)

Detailed edit

Today I used a little different post-processing on my photo. As I haven’t used Topaz adjust in a long time and was looking how to add more detail to this photo, I tried it out. And the spicify preset with some tweeking created quite intersting results. For those interested, this was taken in the St. Sebaldus Church in Nuremberg.
