Night in Astana

Still have some edited photos of Astana in Kazakhstan, that I have not posted yet here. So here you have another one, taken in the middle of the city.

As in many others I have the Bayterek tower in this shot, and as in other, it was quite a pain to blend it together. That’s actually the reason I even started with HDR in the first place. Being able to get nice photos where normally you would get over or underexposed parts, is just so great.

This is a three shot blend, done in Photoshop.

Morning clouds over Astana

A simpler photo today. I took this one while exploring Astana in the very early morning hours. I was actually on my way to the new pedestrian bridge, you can see on the left in this photo. It looks really great in photos, specially when you are on it.

But I can’t show you a photo of it, as I was not able to get onto it. It was still under construction when I was there. Should be opened now already though. So if you go to Astana, you should check it out :) The bridge can be found here.

So for this photo I focused more on the moving clouds over the city. This is a single exposure, edited in Lightroom and Photoshop.

Night at the fountain

I was taking photos in the area round the center of Astana, and I was getting ready to finish for the day. It was just too dark already. But then I saw the fountain and though, I could still get some nice shots with the colorful lights in in. So I walked to it, set up my camera, took one shot, and the light turned off :). Just my luck.

But I still got one photo, and this is it. This is a blend of 5 exposures, done in Photoshop. Mostly I just had to blend the tower in the center, as you can see it’s crazy bright compared to it’s surroundings.

Looking down in Astana

Let’s get back to updating. For today, another photo from Astana. This one was taken from the top of one of the skyscrapers in the city. I wanted to catch as much as I could of the view, so I went with the 12mm lens here.

And you may notice a really strong perspective distortion, but this time it’s on purpose. The perspective distortion here gives a bit of a feeling of vertigo and better represents how high it was taken from.

This is a two shots blend, done in Photoshop.

Rainy reflection

I’m off for a few days, so there will be no updates until next week here. But until than, here is another rainy shot from Astana in Kazakhstan. And yeah, the week I was there I was really lucky for rain. But I got the reflection, which is great :)

This is a two exposures blend, done in Photoshop. Of course this is the Expo 2017 sphere building there :)
