No vertorama today for a change :) But at least a reflection. This is one of my popular spots in Asmterdam, as it’s one of the few ones where you can get completely close to the water and get a really nice reflection. Check out my complete list of spots here: Top Photoshophy spots in Amsterdam.

This is a two exposures blend, where I used a second exposure to darken the bright windows a bit.

The moment I saw the Intells hotels hotel in Zaandam, and that it had a pool next to it, I knew I wanted a full reflection of the hotel. That was of course easier said than done, as the pool is right next to it, and the hotel is quite tall. Since I had the tilt shift lens, my first try was to just do a 3 shot vertorama, but that was just not enough. I either had a big perspective distortion and no reflection, or I cut off the top and bottom of the hotel.

As I could not move back, further away, I tried to experiment, and in the end I wend with a combination of two vertoramas. First I made a perfectly leveled tilt shift vertorama from three shots. Then I shiftet to the topmost position, tilted the camera up and took a shot. Shifted again to the bottom most position and tilted the camera down and took a shot again.

So I ended with 5 photos. Fist I combined the first three ones into a vertorama, as there was just a shift and that is easy to do. Then I combined the result with the other two shots as a spherical vertorama, and after a bit of tweaking, this is the result I got :) Edited in Lightroom and Photoshop, final photo is 103Mpix big.

I really love how how different a view one can get when using a tilt shift lens. The ability to do panoramas and vertoramas quickly is just perfect. Since I bought it, it became my most used lens almost overnight :)

Same here, in the Zaanse Schans. Being able to get the full reflection while standing so close, and still avoiding some crazy distortion is great. It just gives a new view of things. This is a three shot vertorama, edited in Lightroom and Photoshop.

I wonder what is worst, being home sick and not being able to go to Photokina, or seeing all the updates from all my friends that are there, to know what I’m missing :). Hard to say. But at least since I am home, I have some time to edit photos. So for today, another photo from the Zaanse Schans in Zaandam in Netherlands.

This is a single exposure, edited in Lightroom and Photoshop.

The windmills in Netherlands just looks so great. And they are just a perfect photography subject. If you are curious where I took this photo, check out my Top photography spots in Amsterdam list to find out more.
