You will notice here, there is a church tower in front of the Hungarian parliament. It would be better without it, but there is a small problem to that. There is a place, from where you can see the parliament without the tower. It’s directly from the Fishermans bastion. The problem there is, that it is a restaurant, that is mostly not accessible at all, or they allow entry to it only for a short time and close it quite early. In the years I have been visiting Budapest, I only got into the bastion once, and this is not one of the photos from that evening. But I still like it, and I hope you do so too :)

Yellow glow of the Hungarian parliament

If you ever been to Budapest, and every tried to take a photo of the Hungarian parliament building, you know how crazy strong the lights are compared to the surroundings. It just completely overpowers everything around it with the strong yellow glow. I really does take a bit of work to tone it back down again, so one doest not have the whole building overexposed.

For this photo I used two exposures, one for the base and a second at -2EV for the light. I edited both in Lightroom and blended together in Photoshop.

Looking at my last year photos, I see that a huge amount of them are blue hour and night photos. Must be probably due to the crazy hot Summer we had in Europe last year. But I’m not that happy about it. So plan for this year is to try and do much more photos during the day and especially the gold hour.

But for today, another night shot, of fireworks above Budapest. Single exposure, edited in Photoshop and Lightroom.

How about one more shot from Budapest. It actually from the same evening as the previous one, taken only minutes later from the same spot. It’s just the view towards the opposite side. I did have to wait quite a while until the area got empty, but in the end, it was, for few seconds that is :). But it was enough to take the shot.

This is a blend from two exposures, one normal and one darker for the bright lights. Edited in Lightroom and Photoshop.

As I mentioned in my Top spots in Budapest, there is this wall with a walkway on it next to the Fishermans Bastion. It gives a great view of the city, but of course, the view towards the other side is also great :)

This is a two shot vertorama of the Matthias Church, edited in Lightroom and Photoshop.

I took this shot right at the end of the fireworks display, when quite a lot were exploding at once (you cant see all, as I could not get everything due to a tree being in the way on the right). But right as it started, my camera locked up and it would not get back on. I ended up having to remove the battery completely, as it would just not start. I really was not happy to see all the fireworks I missed. But what can you do.

This is a single exposure, edited in Lightroom and Photoshop.
