The night sun on the Tower 115

The White night event is again in Bratislva this weekend, and I went a bit to the city yesterday evening. I did not really take many photos, as I do prefer wide landscapes to street photos, but I did take a few. Here is one.

This is one of the light installation, a projection of a very talkative sun on the Tower 115 building, next to the Apollo bridge. I did this photo with the 12mm lens, to get as much of the foreground together with the tower. I quite like these plant holders they have there, even though they are not yet overgrown. The whole area is still quite new, so that will take a while still.

This is a blend of 4 exposures, 3 for the photo and one at higher iso for the sun. Blended in Photoshop.

Low clouds over Bratislava castle

It has been very rainy in Bratislava for the last few days, so for today, I have chosen a photo from a rainy evening. I really like when the clouds are like this, very low over the city. The lights from the city then can lit it up and give it color in the sky. And with a combination of that together with the lights reflecting into the river, you can get a really golden gloving photo.

For this photo, I used 6 exposures, as it was taken quite late and the castle was really bright compared to the rest of the area. Blended and edited in Photoshop.

Night city lights

I was editing this photo, and for the whole time, I had a strange feeling, that it’s smaller than it should be. The detail was just not there as I’m used to. And then I remembered, this is an older photo, taken with the Canon 5D Mark II. The Mark IV does not have that many megapixels more, only about 1/3rd more, but when you do a panorama, it stacks up really quickly. And when one gets used to a higher resolution, it very hard to work with a smaller one.

This is a two shot panorama, each shot blended from three exposures. This is the view of the Bratislva city center you would get, if you ever are in the Aupark tower. This photo was taken right as the blue hour ended and the night started.

And since this is another big panorama, here are few details from this photo.

Autumn light

Don’t have any new photo, so here goes one from my archives, that I only edited recently. This one is taken in the Autumn of 2014, from under the SNP bridgge in Bratislava. I was still on the 5D mark II at that time. One good thing about shooting RAW photos, you can edit them anytime later, and still get good results. Sometimes even better as the editing software gets better with time too.

This is a blend of 4 exposures, done in Photoshop.

A cold evening panorama

Usually everyone only post’s winter photos in winter. Not really sure why. Not like everyone just shares photos that took that day anyway. Especially if you take many photos and post often. I post old photos all the time too. But somehow I also don’t share many winter ones outside winter. Feels a bit strange. Let’s try one today :)

This is one of my favorite spots to take photos in Bratislava. It’s like a go to spot to try new things. Very rarely there is someone there and one is never bothered. For this photo I used 6 exposures, two sets of three brackets to create a two shot panorama. Blended together and then combined in Photoshop.
