I haven’t had the best last week, first I killed of my PC and had to reinstall everything, and then I even got sick. So today I only did a quick edit of one of my photos from Basel, and I’m going to rest now.

This is a HDR from 4 exposures, created in Oloneo Photoengine, with a 5th exposure blended in to remove the ghosting. You may find it strange that I used ISO 1600 for this, but that was a mistake. I was taking the faster exposure for the boats, and I changed everything back, just not the ISO. But surprisingly, the amount of noise was quite manageable :)

Mountains

Sometimes 20Mpix is just not enough. I just love detail in my photos, and in the scenes like this one, one could just have more and more of it :) This is a view of Zermatt, from the Swarzsee.

Photographers on Ello

The list of photographers on Ello recently crossed it’s 500 entry, ant it still keeps on growing and growing. I think more and more photographers will be drawn there, as if you compare the quality of the photos there, no other social network competes at all. And you don’t even have to click on them to see them big :)

You can find me on Ello as @miroslavpetrasko, and you can find the list as always here: Photographers to follow on Ello.

Evening in Zurich

I didn’t had the best sunset while taking photos in Zurich, but one can almost always rely on the blue hour. Same here :) A combination of blue and yellow just works great.

Vertical photos

Do you take many vertical (portrait) oriented photos? I somehow don’t. Not really sure why it’s like that. I’m just drawn more to wider views, and so my photos are mostly landscape. Also it looks so nice when all the photos are of the same size and aspect ratio. What do you like more? Vertical or horizontal shots?

Schwarzsee reflection

And while on the vertical photos subject, how about one from them. This is a reflection taken at the Schwarzsee under the Matterhorn. The sky was not the best behind the mountain, but the reflection was great, so I took the shot :)

Thoughts & Tips

As I keep adding more articles to the blog, the list under Thoughts & Tips keeps on growing nicely. It’s more tips than thoughts right now, but I will try to get it more balanced over time :) Feel free to check out all the articles, either in the menu to the right, or at the Thoughts & Tips page.

Shaded sunset

A sunset in between mountains is quite interesting. You can see the sun on one side, while already being completely in the shade. It’s same for Zermatt, as it is placed right in between two mountain ranges.

For this photo, I actually took 6 exposures, as the sun was very bright compared to the foreground. That’s what I almost always do when shooting into or close to the sun. Take the -3Ev just to be sure I have it :) This is a HDR created in Oloneo Photoengine, finished in Photoshop.
