Missing photos

Some of you may have noticed that for 2-3 hours today, all photos were missing from the blog, and also the portfolio site was not accessible at all. This was caused by a DNS problem from the site of GoDaddy, and regrettably I could do nothing to correct or prevent it. I just hope the problem was solved permanently by now, and will not occur again.

Bratislava landmarks

The Bratislava castle and the SNP bridge are just the most dominant landmarks in Bratislava. Especially if you are in the center, you see them from quite far away. And I very happy that I have them both in one photo :) Usually it’s not so easy, as they are on the opposite sides of the Danube.

I stooped today at a motorbike exhibition in Bratislava. And while I managed to stay there only for about an hour (the number of people there was just to big for my comfort), I did take a few photos. And here are a few of them :)

All taken hand-held, and with a 24-70 or 16-35 lens.

I haven’t posted a panorama in such a long time, so here is one. It was taken a little after I took the last photo I posted. It’s really nice to edit such a photo on a huge screen. You just see so much more, and can get a nice perspective on how the photo looks. Too bad, that when you look at it on something small afterwards, it’s never so great. It’s actually a problem with most HDR photos. They are so detailed, that seeing them small, you never see everything. So for todays photo, you can go here to see it bigger than the usual size I share my photos in :)

This post comes a little later that I wanted, but unluckily, while I was out shooting yesterday, my system HDD decided to die, and I ended up with an nonfunctional PC. But after buying a new HDD today, I managed to get it all up and running again, and can get back to photos :)

Yesterday I had the possibility to shoot from a new location in Bratislava, and to get a new view of the city center. It’s a very nice view, as you can see the three most dominant building in Bratislava (if you don’t count all the new skyscrapers :)). From left, it’s the Bratislava Castle, the SNP bridge and the St. Martins cathedral.

I have no idea what to shoot anymore in Bratislava. Sometimes I just walk around with the camera, and don’t take any shots. It’s quite a change from when I started, as then I took many shots, even if I was not sure if they will be ok. Now, If I don’t like the view, or can’t find a composition, I don’t bother anymore. Probably I now know more that I like.

But I also started experimenting more with the ND filter to get a little different view and I just like the soft look of water. So this is one of the few photo I took yesterday. At first I wanted to go to a completely different location, but after seeing a bunch of cranes right where I wanted to shoot, I took this on my way home.
