Random timelapse clips

One of the areas of photography I’m very interested in is timelapses. So from time to time I take some sequences, to practice editing and cutting them together. And in the recent days I did so for few sequences and put together this short videos, as a sort of a test. If I manage and have time, I hope to do a longer one this year :)

Calm sunset reflection at the Neusidler See

Last weekend I stopped by the Neusidler See in Austria. My first working trip with my new camera is close, so I have to use it as much as possible until than. One has to get the hang of things :)

For this shot, I used the Formatt Hitech 10 stop ND filter, to stretch the exposure, and this nice silky water. Exactly as I hoped it will be. This is a single exposure, edited in Lightroom and Photoshop.

Points, points and more points

sunset plotagraph, Plotagraphy ProIt’s quite fun to edit photos with Plotagraph Pro. It really reminds me of those newspapers in Harry Potter movies. The little bit of movement really changes how a photo looks.

And it’s not even that hard. Just check out the guide I posted few days ago. I will also do a video version, but that will be later, as I caught a bit of a cold, and my voice is quite horrible right now. And of course, a review is also in the works.

To the side you can see a screenshot of how this photo looked like when I finished editing it into a plotagraph. It all just about adding animation points. And many of them :)

A colorful sunset plotagraph

I think this is one of the photos that really fits for a plotagraph. Almost everything here normally moves, so adding the movement back just ads to the overall look of it.

(if you are on a mobile or use an old browser, you may only see a static image)

Trying out Plotagraph Pro

For the last few days I have been experimenting with the Plotagraph Pro. I wanted to try it earlier, but I did not want to pay for a full year without trying it out first. And since they introduced a monthly plan recently, I thought I will give it a try.

I have to say, I’m enjoying it quite a lot. It’s quite fun to add a bit of movement to a photo. It makes it look quite mesmerizing in a way. I already edited quite a few, and I still want to try it on more photos, so I will share with you some in the following days and weeks.

Please note, I’m sharing the plotagraphs as looping mp4 videos, not as gifs. The reason is that I can get a much smaller file (10-20 times smaller) and of a comparable or higher quality with MP4 than with a GIF. So if you are on mobile, or are using an older browser, it may be that you will see a static image, instead of the motion. I’m looking into how to make it work on all browsers, but have not found a way yet.

Moving pink sunset

This is the fist ploatagraph I was happy with. The subject really lends it self for a bit of motion. The movement in the sky and the reflection in the puddle really pull you into the photo. I tried to leave it quite subtle, so it looks still quite realistic, even with a bit faster movement that there would be. I do hope you like it :)

Also for those curious, this is a 10 second video, 5times 2 second loop, with a resolution of 1200×798. And it is only 600kb big :)

RAWs from Canon 5D mark IV

As today I’m sharing with you a photo from the 5D mark IV for the first time, I thought that you might find it interesting to have a look at the RAW files. So from here you can download the two RAW files I used to crate this panorama.

Feel free to check them out, but as always, please don’t use them for anything else without my permission.

The bridge in Vienna

As I mentioned yesterday, I already wanted to try out the 5D mark IV. But since the weather is still quite bad and everything looks quite gray, I needed a spot where this would not be such a problem. I decided for the hill Leopoldsberg above Vienna. Since I would be taking photos of a city from far away, I will not be able to see how the trees have no leaves and similar. Just the colors of the city.

And as the weather played along, this is what I got. The shot came out a bit less colorful that I hoped, but I let it be. This is close to what it actually looked like. This is a two shot panorama, combined in Lightroom, finished in Photoshop.

My plan for today was to play more around with the Canon 5D mark IV. But between the bad weather and being just busy overall, I did not get to do much. But still, the first impression is great, even if it looks like I have to learn more about it, as there is just so much new stuff. I will keep you updated :)

At the Neusidler See

For todays post a quick edit of one of my older shots, taken at the lighthouse at the Neusidrell See in Podersdorf in Austria. This is one of my go to locations, where I like to test new gear.

There are few webcams in the are (you can find them easily by googling for them), and so I can check how the weather looks there and if it’s worth it to try and go take photos there. And it usually does not disappoints.

This is a single exposure, edited in Lightroom and Photoshop.
