Winter panorama

I’m quite happy I went out to take photo when it started snowing two days ago. Already it’s more raining than snowing, so I don’t think the snow will stay for much longer. It’s all melting already.

This photo is a bit softer than I would like. The problem was a very strong force wind on top of the SNP bridge. I had problem even standing still there, as it would push on me so much. A lot of photo I took came out completely blurry as the wind moved the camera. But some are nice.

This is a three shot panorama, merged in Lightroom and then edited in Photoshop. You can see the photo I took few minutes before this one here.

Goals for 2019

What are your goals in 2019? My main goal is finally to be able to understand Japanese language. For a long time I wanted to learn another language (next to Slovak, English and German that I know), and Japanese was the one I wanted to know the most. I already tried once to get into it few years back, but did not stick with it. But for the last two months I have been keeping with it, so hopefully I keep it up. This time it has to work :)

Btw. How great it is to be able to write directly into PDF files on the Surface Pro. I just can’t force myself to write into a book. But with the Drawboard app and a PDF version of the book, it’s just so easy.

Even more fireworks

Let’s continue with another fireworks shot. This one is almost exactly what I envisioned when going out to take photos of this years fireworks show. I wanted the castle in the bottom with a lot of fireworks above it. The only thing that really did not work out exactly, was the location of the ship. It was closer to the right side of the Danube than I hoped for. Like this, a lot of the fireworks exploded right in front of the castle, which I did not like that much. But luckily, a lot of them went high up, which worked really nicely.

Today’s photo is actually a blend of two exposures. The reason I needed to blend this was a bit different this time. Since there were a lot of people around me when I took it, either one of them or maybe even I bumped into the tripod and caused a bit of movement in the photo. It was not noticeable on the fireworks, but the castle and the whole foreground looked horrible. Luckily, I took a bunch of photos with the same settings, so I easily could replace the bottom part from a second photo. You can’t even tell from the result. Photo blended and edited in Photoshop.

Snow cowered Bratislava

I planed to share with you another fireworks photo today, but then my plans changed. When I woke up today (quite late) it was snowing quite heavily in Bratislava. So I decided to go out and try to get few photos. In the end I spend over 4 hours in the cold, and I’m still shivering from it.

So here is one of the many photos I took today. This is a 3 shot panorama taken from the top of the SNP bridge. Combined in Lightroom, finished in Photoshop.

More New Years Fireworks

I think that nobody is surprised that I’m sharing another fireworks photos. And I will share few more in the coming days. Everybody in Bratislava was very lucky with the weather during the New year. Clear sky with only a bit of wind. Total opposite from the 1st January. It rained and was really windy. We were really lucky.

This photo is actually a composite of 5 photos that were taken in a series. Each one had one nice fireworks explosion, but I did not like any of them particularly. So in the end, I used one photo for the bottom scenery with one of the explosions and three more with the other explosions, blended in. Then I did not like that the photo was too narrow, so I found another photo that was taken a bit wider and I matched a part of the scenery to make the photo wider. It’s hard to see where, so I could maybe left it just black, but I would know, so I had to fix it.

Took a while to put this together. This is actually first time I’m posting a composite photo of fireworks. But I quite like the result so here it is :)

Light deer

I went out today to check out if they have the same light deer at the Eurovea Shopping center in Bratislava this year. And yes, it was there. Though I think, when I compare it to my older photo of it, that it’s missing some light this year. Looked better before. Actually I was surprised just how many people were in the city. The time between Christmas and New Year is usually very calm in the city, as a lot of people are just not here. Not this time obviously.

It’s quite warm in Bratislava this week, so I already fear another foggy New Year. Last year one could barely see the fireworks, and hopefully that will not repeat again.

This is a HDR from 5 exposures created in Oloneo Photoengine, then blended with two of the original exposures in Photoshop.
