Autumn in the city

Let’s bring a bit of Autumn colors to the blog with today’s photo. I took this one about a week ago, while doing some sunset panoramas down by the Danube. The light created these huge lens flares, but in the end I decided to keep them in the photo. They create an interesting framing around the lamp.

This is a blend of two exposure, created in Photoshop.

Searching for ones own photos

Sometime I do a revers search on some of my photos. I try not to do it, as it’s really depressing. So many people used them on their websites, and almost no one ever gives me credit as the author of the photo.

Here and there I get contacted by companies that represent photographers in legal actions against sites like these, and while I prefer not to do so, one day it may be too much to ignore. Funny how easy is to include a line of text with my name and link back to the site. Still seems to much to ask for from some :/

Information on licensing and proper use can be found here.

Sphere building in blue

I shared with you already few images of the Expos 2017 sphere building in Astana, and this is another one. I tried to have them in different colors, so here is one in blue.

This is a blend of two exposures, where the second one was used only to remove a flare from the photo.

Social networks

Recently I have been most active on Twitter and Instagram. I don’t even have Facebook installed on my phone anymore. But I noticed one thing. On Twitter, when someone follows me, they do so because they want to see what I share. On Instagram, it looks like most people that follow me just do so hoping that I follow them back, and just don’t care what I share. I can see huge fluctuation of followers numbers there, while on Twitter they are quite stable.

Interesting to see how people behave differently on different sites. Have you seen something similar?

Stunning fireworks over Budapest

Fireworks make for such stunning and colorful photos. I always try to take more photos of them when I can. But you may have noticed, I always include a lot from the scenery. I don’t like fireworks photos with just the fireworks. That makes the shot very generic for me, if there is nothing to identify the location.

This shot, as many other of my fireworks photos, was taken during the St. Stephen’s day celebrations in Budapest, Hungary. These are every year on the 20th of August there. This is a single exposure, edited in Photoshp.

Sunset at the Bratislava Castle

I do like colorful photos. And sunset can give you so much color. And autumn and early winter sunsets can be so beautiful. Like this one. This is a bit different view of Bratislava castle, as this photo is taken from the Michael’s Gate tower. The balcony there is easily accessible if you visit the medieval weapons museum that is in the tower. Just having a sunset during you visit is only possible in Winter as they close quite early.

This is a blend of three exposures, done in Photoshop.

Panoramic software

I did not notice, but what’s happening with panoramic software? Kolor and PTgui websites are not accessible at all. Kolor, the makers of AutoPano announced they ending few months ago, with the PTgui not even having an announcement at all. Not that many people do panoramas anymore? Or just use build in features in Lightroom and similar? Who knows. But still it’s bad, as choice is always great. Curious to see what happends to the software they all developed.

Over the Dom Luis I Bridge

Ok, enough of the Black Friday stuff (But don’t forget, most deals are valid until the Cyber Monday :)). Let’s get back to photos.

Today’s photo is a panorama taken from a viewing area above the Dom Luis I Bridge that spans in Porto. This bridge just looks great, and you can walk across it on the bottom and also the top level. Though, some are a bit scared to pass the top one.

This is a three shot panorama, each shot from three exposures. I used PTgui to create the panorama and then Photoshop to blend them. I actually used Raya Pro panel here. Will write more about it when I use it more.
