After all those panoramas and vertoramas, how about a bit simpler photo. This is one of the statues at the Alexander bridge in Paris. As if it was not easily recognizable by the Eiffel tower in the background :)
This is a single exposure, edited in Photoshop.
The Passerelle St Georges bridge in Lyon, France looks really nice. And the location of the church right behind it makes for such an easy composition. But you know how it is. Things are never that easy. The lights on the bridge are crazy strong. You have to underexpose a lot and then blend even more. And even with a -3EV shot, you will not get every spot correctly. Really does not make for an easy photo :)
This is a 5 shot HDR merged in Lightroom, then blended with original exposures in Photoshop.
I been a bit sick recently so I have not been out to take photos in a while. But I decided to go out today, and I ended at my favorite spot in the city center right after sunset. So today, I have for you a new photo from Bratislava.
This is a two shot panorama. I used a 10 stop ND filter here from VFFOTO. I did quite underexpose the shot, but with the RAWs from the Canon 5D mark IV I was able to overexpose enough to get what I wanted. Panorama combined in Lightroom, finished in Photoshop.
I do like these huge panoramas. And the more I take them, the more I like them. I even vent back in my photo archive to find even more panoramas :)
This one I took in 2015 while visiting the Grossglockner High Alpine Road in Austria. This is a road that can get you very high up into the Alps, for just a stunning view. Of course you have to be lucky for the clouds to move away, or you will see nothing. Or as the day I was there, the clouds were first covering everything, but after lunch they moved and showed this beautiful view of the mountains.
This photo is a 66Mpix panorama, created from three exposures. Merged in Lightroom, then finished in Photoshop. I did take multiple exposures here, but did not use them in the end. Not sure if it was the wind or bad tripod placement, but few of the exposures would not align properly and instead of trying to fix that, was just easier to edit a single exposure.

Yesterday I updated you on my reading list, and I forgot to mention one great source to find great books. Each year, Goodreads has Choice awards for the best books. And right now the 2018 ones are slowly reaching the final winners. I always have a look at them, to find some great book. Only yesterday I found The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton as one of the nominees, and I’m already half way through :) If you want a good book to read, I would have a look there.
While browsing my photo archive, I stumbled also across this photo. And as I never posted it here before, here it is :) I actually took this one on the first January of 2017. It’s one of those perfect dates when to take photos. That, and the week between Christmas and New Years, are the times when there are very few people in the city centers. Everybody is at home or with their families, which makes the city a photographers playground. Each time I can I go out to take some photos.
